This is just a test….

If you hear a loud noise ringing right around the Delaware Memorial Bridge, do not be alarmed. It is only a test. Croda Inc will test its new community alarm system at its Atlas Point chemical plant tonight (2/11/20) at 7 pm. The alarm will consist of a steady tone that will go on for about two minutes.

If you are within a one mile radius, you should be able to hear the alarm. Communities such as Collins Park, Swanwyck Gardens, Holloway Terrace, and Simonds Garden along the Route 9 Corridor, DMB, and I-295 will be able to hear the alarm.

Community members sought a better warning system after reverse 911 calls reached less than 1/3 of the people and businesses that needed to know to shelter in place back in 2018 when a leak released more than 2600 pounds of toxic gas into the air.
