Delaware’s Plans To Reopen Schools Will Be Announced In Early August
The Delaware Department of Education is releasing its final guidance on planning to reopen schools this fall. There are three possible scenarios for the school year. Susan Bunting, the Department of Education Secretary, spoke about the guidance regarding minimal, minimal to moderate, and substantial scenarios during yesterday’s press briefing. The minimal scenario means that schools would reopen using in-person learning with precautionary measures. In the minimal to moderate scenario, schools would reopen using a hybrid of remote and in-person learning. In the substantial scenario, school buildings remain closed and all learning would be remote. The district and charters will use this guidance to support the continued development of their individual reopening plans. Governor Carney and the Department of Education will make a decision early next month. Carney said he would like to see consistency across districts but understands that plans need to be flexible.
