Delaware German Club Cancelled This Year’s Oktoberfest
The Delaware Saengerbund has canceled its annual Oktoberfest due to, you guessed it, coronavirus. Oktoberfest was scheduled for September 18th, 19th and 20th at 49 Salem Church Road in Ogletown. Oktoberfest is a popular tradition that draws more than 15,000 visitors to the three-day festival. Since 1979, the Saengerbund’s Oktoberfest has been an anticipated fall tradition. For over 40 years, crowds have come together to drink gallons of beer, eat homemade dishes, and enjoy music and the club’s Bavarian folk dancing group perform.
To our members and friends:It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Delaware Saengerbund...

SHANGHAI, CHINA - MAY 05: Tourists at Disney town as Disneyland imposes social distancing measures on May 05, 2020 in Shanghai, China. After decades of growth, officials said Chinas economy had shrunk in the latest quarter due to the impact of the coronavirus epidemic. The slump in the worlds second largest economy is regarded as a sign of difficult times ahead for the global economy. While industrial sectors in China are showing signs of reviving production, a majority of private companies are operating at only 50% capacity, according to analysts. With the pandemic hitting hard across the world, officially the number of coronavirus cases in China is dwindling, ever since the government imposed sweeping measures to keep the disease from spreading. Officials believe the worst appears to be over in China, though there are concerns of another wave of infections as the government attempts to reboot the worlds second largest economy.
