Planting Advice: Tomatoes grow best in a spot with full sun and well-drained soil. They'll be more prone to disease if you plant them in heavy clay soil or shade. Also, it's helpful to plant tomatoes in a different part of the garden each year as diseases can build up in the soil.

The Food Bank of Delaware is teaming up with the Delaware Center for Horticulture for the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society’s Harvest 2020 efforts. The two organizations are working to provide more healthy food to those in need. They are encouraging  gardeners who have a surplus to donate what they can so they can distribute to those in need. Fellow Delawareans need more help than ever before. An additional 50,000 people than previously anticipated are facing food insecurities this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Food Bank of Delaware already distributes roughly two million pounds of fresh produce each year. They look to increase that effort annually, especially this year. If you’re a backyard gardener with a surplus visit FBD.org/produce.
