Today’s Google Doodle Celebrates 11th Grader Milo
Today Google celebrates the winner of the 2021 US Doodle for Google contest. Google will typically alter their homepage logo for holidays, events, and historical figures. Today, June 15th Google breaks their normal traditions to celebrate an 11th grader from Kentucky’s artwork.
Milo Golding’s piece titled, “Finding Hope”, was announced as the winner on Monday, as the 13th annual Doodle for Google winner. According to Newsweek.com, it was selected out of 54 state and territory winners. The competition was open to all students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The grand prize Milo will receive includes a $30,000 college scholarship and also a $50,000 technology package for his high school.
The doodle itself features a mixed-race child kneeling while handing a younger child a boy and fixing his scarf. Google will feature the artwork for 24 hours on their homepage. Milo’s goal with the artwork was to symbolize hope, his late father told him that hope was the key to overcoming obstacles.
