Deanna and Justin In The Morning

I was able to check a big name off my bucket list this weekend. My Saturday night was spent with Aerosmith and The Black Crowes in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center.

Coming off the heels of two sad stories from the weekend with Jimmy Buffet and Steve Harwell passing away, I am glad I was able to see these two great acts before it’s too late.

You never know when a talented soul will leave us and I would hate to kick myself for not making it to this show, so I was set on not skipping this one.

I have loved Aerosmith ever since middle school when I would rock out in my bedroom to their album Big Ones in my 6 disc CD changer. Yea, remember those?

I have even had daydreams of starting an all female Aerosmith tribute band and calling it Sweet Emotion.

Don’t steal that idea,

The parking lot of the Wells Fargo Center was packed with people blaring music from their vehicles as they gathered to gear up for the night.

The energy was electric, you could feel the excitement of every single person as you walked through the doors. I even ran into our friend Jacky Bam Bam from our sister station WMMR.

The show was slated to start at 7 but The Black Crowes took the stage around 7:30. It was the perfect way to kick off a holiday weekend in the summer.

With about a half hour break in between acts, we had time to hit the restroom, grab a drink with Big Boss Joe Bell and say “Hi” to some friends. (Shown above).

Aerosmith took the stage and came out blazing hot with “Back In The Saddle”.

From there it was just a high energy show of hit after hit, a few deep cuts and tons of lights.

Steven Tyler was absolutely on fire and his vocals were outrageous.

I sang my heart out to every song and felt like I was reliving years of nostalgia.

One of the coolest parts of the evening was seeing John Douglas’ drumkit wrapped in the Philly LOVE sign.

In a final moment on stage, as confetti dropped from the ceiling Steven Tyler reached up, grabbed a piece and ate it.

It was a wild night.

Aerosmith and The Black Crowes put on an amazing show. Check out some of my photos from the concert on Saturday.
