There was just no way we could let this one go! When we heard we had the opportunity to talk with Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa, we jumped right on it!
Drama Queen
Menzel released her 7th studio album Drama Queen earlier this month. Currently, it is available now on all streaming platforms.
Menzel has put out three singles from the album – “Move,” “Dramatic,” and “Beast.” The album is a departure from what she’s put out in the past. The dance project is meant to encourage everyone to move and sing and embrace their inner Drama Queen.
I fangirled out a little bit when we first started chatting. Idina Menzel has been an idol of mine for such a long time. From her days as Elpheba in Wicked and Maureen in RENT, I’ve always looked up to her as a performer. I made that known in our interview too.
She was such a gracious guest and took my fawning over her very well.
Idina mentions her “ex-husband” in our interview who is none other than the gorgeous Taye Diggs.
You can listen to the full interview below where we ask her about playing villain, her moon walking talents, and her newest album.

Theatre students are on the edge of their seats to learn what performance they’ll be working on each year. What a cool way to decide? I wonder what other local schools applied. Hmmm…
Anyway, the winners from each high school across the country have been announced. This Delaware high school has been selected as the first to produce Disney’s Frozen, as their school’s musical for the new school year.
The contest was a joint effort between the Educational Theatre Association, Disney Theatrical Group, and Music Theatre International. Only 51 schools were selected. One winner from each state in the US, and one from Germany, for children of military families were selected.
According to Playbill, the contest, called The United States of Frozen: Love is an Open Door competition was open to any high school in the U.S., including U.S. territories. The applicants were asked to explain how they would use their production based on three categories. To strengthen their school community, provide outreach to underserved groups, and support inclusive and diverse theatre programs. The winning schools receive rights for up to three performances of Frozen; free access to the work’s digital script, score, and orchestrations; a video license, and more.
How cool is this? Maybe WJBR will get an invite to come out and see the performance. Or maybe we can have some of the theatre students in the studio to talk to Deanna and Justin about the performance!
So, what school in Delaware and our neighboring states took home this amazing opportunity? See the list below.
