If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times.  We take the chance to celebrate just about anything nowadays.  So, what’s next?  Tacos.

According to NationalToday.com, Wednesday, October 4th is National Taco Day.  Personally, I am of the belief that National Taco Day should always fall on a Tuesday, to pay homage to the famed “Taco Tuesday”, but I suppose it just gives us a reason to eat tacos two days in a row this week.

Fun Taco Facts

• Lebron James attempted to trademark the term “Taco Tuesday” but was denied by U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, who call “Taco Tuesday” a “commonplace term,” according to NationalDay.com.
• The top three fillings are carne asada, pastor and chicken.
• 76% of people say they eat tacos at least every couple of weeks.

We took to the folks who are at the top of their game when it comes to recommendations and reviews.  None other than the trusted source that is TripAdvisor.  If you’re not familiar with TripAdvisor, their rankings are based on the reviews and ratings from customers who have visited the businesses in the recent past.

These are the 10 top rated spots for tacos in Wilmington.

• Border Cafe

  Open in Newark since 2001, serving up tacos with blackened salmon and Baja shrimp.  Their goal is to satisfy each guest from the start, in a manner that will ensure his or her return.

• Mexican Table

  Founded in 2011 in Hockessin to serve creative Mexican-Californian fusion dishes to the families, friends.  You’ll find some interesting options for tacos at Mexican Table, like duck and catfish, amongst the traditional fillings.

• Taqueria Moroleon

  Just a short drive from Delaware in Avondale, PA.  Taqueria Moroleon prides themselves in serving the finest, freshest, most authentic Mexican food on this side of the border.

• Agave

  Just across the Delaware – Pennsylvania border, in Chadds Ford.  This is a favorite of mine.  The margarita mixers are TO DIE FOR alongside the short rib braised tacos.  Delish!

  

   

   

   

   

• El Tapatio

  Not to be confused with the location on Philly Pike, this is the Bear location.  They say they have some of the best darn tacos you’ll ever try.

• Del Pez Mexican Gastropub

  This is another one of my favorites down at the Wilmington Riverfront.  They have a second location in Concordville, PA with plans to open a third spot in Newark in 2024.

• El Diablo Burritos

  Always a favorite of the locals with five locations across Delaware, in Wilmington, Trolley Square, Newark and Pike Creek.  Great spot for a quick lunch or casual dinner and the food never disappoints.

  Another must try spot, located in Wilmington off Naamans Road.  Named Best of Delaware in 2022.

• El Gran Rodeo

  Super close to Wilmington in neighboring West Chester.  Huge menu with top notch margs.

• La Tonalteca

  Locations all across Delaware, specifically in Newark.  Fantastic ambience and all the taco options.
