State Trooper Gifts 9 Year Old Boy New Steph Curry Sneakers
Trooper Joshua Morris went viral after a video was recorded of him playing basketball with some local kids. Joshua shared that he was running errands when he was recognized and asked if he wanted to play. The other star in the Instagram video is 9 year old Ra’kir Allen. In the video Allen is the commentator and cameraman.
According to ABC7NY.com, Officer Morris was immediately drawn to Ra’kir because of his charisma. The two have played several pick-up games over the past few weeks. Afterwards, Morris decided to take their relationship even farther than the court when he got in contact with Ra’kir’s mother. The fourth grader compares Joshua to Stephen Curry in the video, so he decided why not get him a pair of the Golden State Warrior’s sneakers. When asked to talk about officer Morris, Ra’kir said, “He’s kind. He’s nice, and he likes basketball.”
Morris has a master’s degree in education and has always had a love for children. He is a firm believer that police should serve the community. He hopes that when Ra’kir wears the shoes he sees them as a symbol that someone believes in him and that someone loves him.
