Coronavirus Update: 87 Cases in Delaware
According to the Delaware Division of Public Health, the total number of coronavirus cases hits 87, an additional 31 since Sunday. Of the Delawareans diagnosed with COVID-19, 58 are from New Castle County, nine are from Kent County, and 20 are from Sussex County. The individuals range in age from 1 to 90 and of these cases 44 are male and 43 are female. Seven individuals are hospitalized and three are critically ill.
In response, Governor Carney declared a Public Health Emergency and released an updated order to assist with Delaware’s response to the coronavirus. The declaration calls for an assessment of medical supplies. Health care professionals who have active licenses of good standing in any US jurisdiction are authorized to provide services in Delaware. Delaware health care professionals whose licenses expired in the last 5 years are also authorized to provide services, assuming their licenses were in good standing for the five-year period. Many individuals infected with COVID-19 recover by resting, drinking plenty of liquids and taking pain and fever-reducing medications. However, illness can be severe and require hospitalization in some cases.
