Break out the leather shorts because 2 Pennsylvania Oktoberfests have been named the best in the U.S.
The cool, fall air hits your face as you sip the cool, crisp fall beers this time of year produces.
Oktoberfest celebrations are my second favorite thing about the fall, the first being football.
In college we would attend our local Oktoberfest for the beer and food but would always look forward to the Weiner Dog races the most.
People would gather around hay bails as costumed Daschunds would sprint to the finish line as people drank beer to stay warm in the cool night.
It was riveting and communal fun.
With the fall on the horizon these beer festivals and celebrations will start popping up left and right, and fortunately 2 Pennsylvania Oktoberfests are getting national recognition.
USA Today 10Best is rolling out the voting for their Reader's Choice Awards and two drivable celebrations are tapped for the top prize.
The Reading Liederkranz Oktoberfest has been on my bucket list for awhile.
"Reading Liederkranz Oktoberfest celebrates all things Germany with the traditional food and fanfare you'd expect of this time-honored festival. Enjoy German delights in the beer garden and from food vendors while live music fills the air" USA Today says.
The Oktoberfest runs Wed Sept 27 thru Sun Oct 1 and will be Rain or Shine at 143 Spook Ln, Reading, PA 19606.
The other of the 2 Pennsylvania Oktoberfests will be a little more of a drive.
The Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest is located in Canonsburg which is southwest of Pittsburgh.
"German food, beer, and music enjoyed alongside carnival rides and contemporary live bands make the Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest one of fall's most enticing events in Canonsburg. This annual fest attracts some 50,000 revelers and that number continues to grow" according to USA Today.
The Gaithersburg Oktoberfest was the other drivable celebration that made the list.

Delish.com recently released their Top 20 Pumpkin Beers for Fall 2022.

Delish said their methodology included "Delish staff favorites, regional picks, some faves from restaurant folks, and the best-reviewed pumpkin brews on the internet."
Dogfish Head place very high this year and it's no surprise.
Dogfish Head Punkin' Ale was ranked just outside the Top 10!
Coming in at #15 the annual ale was just narrowed out by Flying Dog The Fear Pumpkin Ale at #14.
Delish describes the beer as "This pumpkin beer is warmed with nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove to create a full-bodied brown ale with plenty of brown sugar flavor. Dogfish Head likes to change up the packaging of Punkin Ale. Last year, the design featured a glow-in-the-dark element, while this year, it's got sunflowers and a boisterous pumpkin."
The top spot on the Top 20 Pumpkin Beers for Fall 2022 was Two Roads Roadsmary's Baby.
Delish said this about the top beer: "Go traditional with this pumpkin ale from Two Roads. It's aged in rum barrels and has delicious notes of pumpkin, spices, vanilla, oak, and rum."
