This Town Was Named The “Most Unusual” In Delaware
Is it really a bad thing that that a New Castle County town was named the “most unusual” in Delaware?
Unusual does have a negative connotation, but it can be positive!
Unusual also means unique, and being unique keeps things interesting!
Alot.com released a list of “The Most Unusual Town in Every State” where they broke down traditions, stories about the town, and what they call monuments that are off the beaten path.
They combined all of those categories and named a New Castle County town the “most unusual” in Delaware.
That town? New Castle.
Why? Alot.com says “New Castle, Delaware, is the unsung hero of colonial American life. Visitors strolling down its cobblestone streets get a real feel for life from hundreds of years ago—including a glimpse of people decked out in powdered wigs and other old-timey outfits! Even after all these years, this small town has maintained its traditional and historic charm. Well worth a visit if you’re looking to delve into the United States’ rich heritage; just don’t expect to bump into many tourists when you arrive.”
So I was right! Unusual doesn’t have to be negative! In this case it means that New Castle is very unique.
Alot.com was right thought, New Castle is unusual in a bunch of great ways.
It’s home to The Tall Ship Kalmar Nyckel for part of the year, you can learn about pirates in New Castle, and theirs ghosts tours. In a town with a population of under 6,000 people that’s a ton to do.
New Castle IS unusual but that’s what makes it great.
Alot.com listed Hopewell, New Jersey as Jersey’s “most unusual” town citing its influences across books, films, television series, and even fashion.
They also named Centralia as Pennsylvania’s “most unusual” town. Centralia has had an underground fire since the 1960’s and only has a current population of 10 people.
I can fully agree that Centralia is pretty unusual.
