Delaware’s Dirtiest Sounding Town Names
They aren’t exactly lewd but these are Delaware’s dirtiest sound town names.
I remember as a kid sneaking in those words that weren’t exactly a full on curse word, but were dang close.
Things like “shut the front door” or using “frick” instead of you know what.
It always made adults pause for a second and stare to see if I would actually curse!
Growing up in Pennsylvania there were plenty of dirty sounding town names to sneak into conversations.
Towns like Intercourse, Lickdale, Rough and Ready, and Hop Bottom sound lewd but can totally be found on a map of Pennsylvania.
If you go over to New Jersey the “dirty” worded town names continue.
Jersey has Ramtown, Tuckahoe, and Succasunna on their state map.
So what about Delaware? What towns sound dirty and fun to say?!
Of course off the top of my head I can name Blue Ball right away.
Delaware also has Cave Colony, Swallow Hill, and Cocked Hat on a map of the state.
Some of Delaware’s dirtiest sounding town names really through me for a loop.
For example: Hoars Addition.
Hoars Addition is in Kent County and is below Cheswold.
Another Kent County town that sounds slightly dirty is Cowgills Corner. The population of the town was 36 all the way back in 1900.
I also love Midnight Thicket. It sounds like something out of a horror novel and is located in Sussex County.

Anytime I see these weird town names I have to take a picture. It seems like everyone I know who lives in Pennsylvania takes a picture with the Intercourse sign.
