We love a good friendly competition and a little rivalry between major brands. Word on the street is Starbucks Is Getting “The Good Ice” And Sonic Came For Them On Twitter.
Starbucks announced that they will be changing their ice. They will slowly start implementing the nugget ice into their drinks. Soon it will be available in a store near you. We’re pretty excited that Starbucks is getting “The good ice”.
In a statement to PEOPLE, the coffee giant announced its plan to begin changing the ice used in its signature drinks as part of a multi-year rollout starting this year.
The machines that make the special ice will be installed at select stores throughout the year. The idea has already been tested. Consumers who have had the new ice in their beverages during a session of testing have responded positively.
We all know the nugget ice is the best ice. Throwback to family nights at Pizza Hut in the 80s and 90s, you could fill up that red cup at the soda fountain with the nugget ice and a root beer.
Nugget ice is nostalgic. That’s why SONIC is such a hit. It’s got the old fashioned type of drive up where you order your food, eat there and enjoy a soft drink with nugget ice.
Speaking of SONIC, they didn’t miss a beat when reminding everyone who had the good ice first:
