In what turns out to have been a prank go honerribly wrong, a Delaware trooper is now suspended from the job.
Last week in Wilmington, a group of teen boys played the age old prank of ding dong ditch at a random Delaware home. Little did the teens know that the home belonged to a Delaware State Trooper.
It is alleged that following the prank, the trooper and his partner went out to search for the boys. Upon finding them, the car pulled up behind the boys with the lights activated. He then reportedly ordered the boys to lie down on the ground, according to the family attorney.
The family and attorney of the family for the 15-year old boy, identified as Jayden, allege that the officer put Jayden into cuffs, put him in the cruiser and used one hand to shine a light in Jayden's eyes while punching him with the other hand.
According to a Facebook post that has since been removed, Jayden's aunt said "The two state troopers arrested my nephews friends, then beat the living hell out of nephew," the post said. "My nephew currently has a concussion, needs surgery to repair severe eye damage (as the cops stomped on him and kicked him multiple times)," reports USA Today.
Jayden was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries. The case is currently under investigation and the Delaware trooper suspended. The identity of the officer has not been released. The suspension came after officials reviewed the bodycam video of the incident.
The Top 10 Most Stolen Vehicles In The State of Delaware
When it comes to grand theft auto, do criminals have a preference? Statistically, yes they do. But the vehicle topping the list of most stolen vehicles in Delaware was barely at the top of the list, the top 10 are all fairly close in number of thefts.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau releases it’s ‘most stolen‘ stats once a year breaking it down by not only which vehicle is most likely to get stolen – but which year as well. If you think thieves won’t target your pickup because it’s 10 years old, you’d be wrong. In fact, newer cars barely crack the national top 10 list. The most recent data includes all of 2022. And there’s plenty of head scratchers.
On a national level, the number one most stolen vehicle last year was a full size Chevy pickup. 49,903 of those trucks were stolen last year, the most common model year stolen – 2004. Incredibly dependable truck with a lot of them still on the road 19 years after it left the lot. But why 2004? A guess might be that because of it’s age the truck has a lot less anti-theft technology. And, because trucks are in demand, even with 200,000 miles on it this truck is still worth $7,000 – $10,000.
Another to note on the national list is the Hyundais and Kias. A lot of them were stolen and was documented online on how incredibly easy they were to steal with something as simple as a USB cable. You'll note, these brands are both among the most stolen vehicles in Delaware.
If you want to see the national list, or the top 10 list for another state, you’ll find that here.
