Feel Good: Rail Worker Prevents A Thief From Stealing A Bike, Waits Four Hours For Owner
Abdul El-Gayer was clocking out from his shift at Cannon Street Station in London when he noticed a man trying to steal a bike. He was using bolt cutters on a bicycle outside of the entrance. The brave rail worker knew he just stand by. He told the thief “You’re not taking that”. Abdul said “voices were raised a little” but the thief eventually gave up and walked away. Abdul put the bike in safe storage. Even though his workday was over, he chose to wait for the bike’s rightful owner to come back… four hours later.
When Steve Farmer arrived outside of the station, he found the broken lock on the ground where his bike had been. Abdul met Steve at the platform. Steve entered to code into the cut lock to show he was the owner and he got his bike back. Of course, Steve posted about the event on Facebook and it went viral.
