Delaware State University Raises Over $500,000 For Student Aid
Delaware State University is going above and beyond to take care of their students! In the past month, DSU raised $559,000 to aid students whose lives were impacted by the coronavirus shutdown. The University set a goal to raise $1 million through the Student Emergency Relief Fund. This relief fund is separate from the money the university received from the federal government for student support. The growing fund comes from alumni donations, philanthropic organizations and anonymous donors. So far, over 1,000 students have applied for funding and the university funded 634 students to reach a total of $227,000. DSU has also distributed about 200 laptops and other wifi devices to students in need. In-state students in need have received food assistance through the on-campus food pantry. Out-of-state students have received gift cards to their local grocery stores.
