Saquon Barkley Misses Award Ceremony To Attend Daddy Daughter Dance
Saquon Barkley proves once again why he deserves to be a champion. And this time it’s in the form of being a great dad.
Saquon Barkley Receives Another Award
This weekend, Saquon was set to receive the 66th Bert Bell Award at The Maxwell Football Club Awards at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, GA. Since 1959, the Bert Bell Award has stood as one of the oldest and most prestigious Player of the Year honors in professional football.
Saquon Barkley Explains It Was Already Rescheduled
When he and Jalen were on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon right after the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl, Saquon explained that the Father/Daughter dance was supposed to be the weekend of the Super Bowl, but luckily they were able to reschedule it. I feel we need to give the school a shoutout because that is awesome they rescheduled it not only for Saquon and Jada but for the rest of the fans who wanted to enjoy Super Bowl weekend.
“We had a daddy-daughter dance the same day as the Super Bowl, but it got canceled,” Barkley said. “So, she told me last night on FaceTime when it got canceled that she definitely wants me to win the Super Bowl more now.”
“So, it was able to get it canceled and moved to March 14th, so I’m able to have that moment with her. And, before the game, she told me now that the dance is canceled, she wants to win the Super Bowl a little bit more,” Barkley stated.
Unfortunately, since it was moved to March 14th, it meant Saquon had to miss the Maxwell Football Club Awards because he chose to take his daughter Jada to the Daddy/Daughter Dance instead.
Saquon Barkley Had Another Important Date
Fun Fact: The Maxwell Club was founded in Philadelphia in 1935 by Bert Bell (who owned the Philadelphia Eagles and then became commissioner of the NFL) and named it after his friend – football player and sports columnist – Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell. For years, The Maxwell Club awards were held in the Tri-State area (Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware), and in 2023 it moved to the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, GA.
