Philadelphia Cherry Blossoms 2025: Peak Bloom Dates, Festival Details, and Top Viewing Spots
Philadelphia cherry blossoms 2025 are expected to reach peak bloom in early April. According to the Morris Arboretum and Gardens in Chestnut Hill, the peak bloom is predicted to occur between April 5 and 8, 2025. This timing is slightly later than usual due to the cold winter experienced this year.
The 2025 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 10 AM to 5 PM each day. This annual spring celebration of Japanese arts and culture, organized by the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP), coincides with the blooming of the cherry trees.
Visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms at various locations throughout Philadelphia, including:
- West Fairmount Park
- Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center & Garden
- Kelly Drive
- Drexel Park
- Morris Arboretum
- Longwood Gardens
- Columbus Boulevard
The Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia offers a beautifully illustrated viewing map to help visitors find the best spots to see the cherry blossoms. Many of these trees date back to 1926 when the Japanese government gifted 1,600 trees to Philadelphia in honor of the 150th anniversary of American independence.
For those interested in the history and future of cherry trees in Philadelphia, JASGP has been involved in tree planting initiatives. They completed a 1,000-tree planting campaign in 2007 and are currently planting an additional 250 trees over three years to commemorate America’s semi-quincentennial (250th) anniversary.
The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival will showcase a diverse array of events, including Japanese cultural performances, food vendors, and craft activities. Attendees can also enjoy unique attractions such as a Pretty in Pink pet contest, a cosplay fashion show, and a karaoke tent. The festival takes place at the Horticulture Center and Centennial Arboretum in West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. Tickets are available for purchase online or at the gates, with general admission priced at $15 for adults, while children 12 and under can enter for free. This celebration provides an excellent opportunity to appreciate the stunning cherry blossoms while immersing oneself in Japanese culture right in the heart of Philadelphia.
