West Chester University to Welcome ‘GMA’ Co-Anchor Robin Roberts to Campus
West Chester University (WCU) will welcome co-anchor Robin Roberts of ABC’s “Good Morning America” to campus for a special President’s Speaker Series event on Friday, April 4, at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall in the Philips Memorial Building at 700 S. High St. in West Chester. Tickets for the event, ranging from $20 to $55, are available online or by calling 610-436-2266.
During the event, Roberts will participate in a Q&A session led by WCU’s newly appointed president, Dr. Laurie Bernotsky, who will be formally inaugurated on March 28.
For more than two decades, Roberts has brought her signature, compassionate approach to journalism to her many media endeavors. She began contributing to “Good Morning America” in 1995 and was named the program’s co-anchor in May 2005. Before joining the “GMA” team, she hosted ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and contributed to “NFL PrimeTime.” GMA has won several Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning Program and the 2017 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Daytime TV Hosting Team.
In 2014, Roberts launched her own production company, Rock’n Robin Productions, which creates original programming for broadcast and digital media. In addition to her broadcast production work, Roberts is the author of three books: “7 Rules to Live By,” “Everybody’s Got Something,” and “Brighter By the Day: Waking Up to New Hopes and Dreams.”
In February, Roberts celebrated her 12th-year return to the “GMA” anchor desk after she received a lifesaving stem cell transplant to treat myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). This rare blood disorder affects the bone marrow. Roberts’ eldest sister, Sally-Ann Roberts, donated some of her stem cells to her, giving Roberts the gift of life again, according to a “GMA” report.
