St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Brings Concert, Job Fair, Book Sale to Ocean City
Ocean City has a full lineup of dynamic St. Patrick’s Day weekend events. Below is a sampling of the many activities around town from March 14 through 16.
McDermott’s Handy Concert
The Ocean City Arts Center will host a free St. Patrick’s Day concert featuring the traditional Irish music duo McDermott’s Handy on Sunday, March 16, at 2 p.m. The concert will be held in the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall of the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave. McDermott’s Handy, comprised of husband-and-wife duo Kathy DeAngelo and Dennis Gormley, has performed traditional Irish music since 1979.
The Arts Center will also honor DeAngelo’s achievements. She is one of five South Jersey recipients of the New Jersey State Council of the Arts’ inaugural New Jersey Heritage Fellowships.
Ocean City Job Fair
More than 40 Ocean City-based employers will visit the Ocean City Music Pier from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, for the annual OCNJ Job Fair. Spring Book Sale
The Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Free Public Library are hosting a spring book sale in the library’s atrium, 1735 Simpson Ave., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 14, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15. Learn more about the book sale on the organization’s website.
Book Signing and Q&A with Author Beth Ferry
Children’s author Beth Ferry will host a free live reading, Q&A, and book signing for her new book, “The Peddler of Puddles.” The event will take place on Tuesday, March 11, in the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave. Call 609-399-2434, ext. 5241 for more information.
