Delaware’s George Thorogood Diagnosed With A Very Serious Medical Condition
Rock and Roll legend, and Wilmington’s own, Georg Thorogood has cancelled tour dates due to a recent diagnosis.
According to George Thorogood’s official website:
“With great sadness, we must announce the cancellation of our Canadian & U.S. tour dates from April 27, 2023 through May 21, 2023. George has been diagnosed with a very serious medical condition that will require immediate surgery and quite a few weeks of recouperation and healing. You, our fans, mean the world to us, and we know this news is not want you wanted to hear, but rest assured George Thorogood & The Destroyers will be back. We’ll keep you updated as we know more.”
Tickets will also be refunded at the point of purchase.
George is set to undergo a undisclosed surgery. The tour is another part of George Thorogood and The Destroyers 50th anniversary tour.
According to Blabbermouth “Since 1976, GEORGE THOROGOOD & THE DESTROYERS have sold over 15 million albums, built a catalog of classic hits, and played more than 8,000 ferocious live shows. They broke records with their “50 Dates/50 States Tour”, delivered landmark performances at Live Aid and on “SNL”, and became mainstays of radio, MTV, and stages worldwide for more than two generations.”
George Thorogood and The Delaware Destroyers began at the University of Delaware. They debuted in Lane Hall a week after George purchase his first electric guitar.
That first night in 1973 the band played “One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer” upwards of three times according to the band’s official website.
George attended Brandywine High School in Wilmington.
The good news from all of this bad news is that the band will be back to rockin’ the stage one day soon!
