Will Delaware County Get Snow This Christmas?
Will Delaware County Get Snow This Christmas?
The Old Farmer’s Almanac issued it’s weather forecast for the next year.
Taking into account all of the changes and natural disasters we have seen, the OFA predicts the winter weather.
The short-term predictions answer whether or not 2022 will bring a white Christmas to our area.
The last super snowy Christmas day was seen in 2009 according to National Centers for Environmental Information. Two feet of snow from earlier in that week was still on the ground in Asheville, N.C.
Back in 1998, Christmas morning brought two inches of dusty white powder.
Currently, the OFA calls for “rain and snow” in our region. We’re not quite sure if that means a sloppy wintery mix, or if the peaceful snow capped Christmas morning will precede the wet and and rainy aftermath.
Next month, the Almanac mentions snow for the Eastern Seabord between January 6th and 13th, 17th and 22nd and 29th and 31st.
We will see if this proves to be true in the upcoming weeks.
It does leave us wondering a bit when we reflect on the oddly warm temperatures we have encountered through the Thanksgiving holiday and even this week.
The summary for our area for the next year can be seen below, directly from the Old Farmer’s Almanac website:
