Eric Clapton performs on stage during Music For The Marsden 2020 at The O2 Arena on March 03, 2020 in London, England.

Classic rock legend Eric Clapton recently said that he will not play any venues that require proof of vaccination against COVID-19; now, folks on social media have been slamming the British rocker.

76-year-old Clapton said, “I wish to say that I will not perform on any stage where there is a discriminated audience present. Unless there is provision made for all people to attend, I reserve the right to cancel the show.”

U.K. Prime Minster Borris Johnson announced this week that by September’s end, people will need to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to enter any nightclub or any other large crowd venue.

This isn’t the first time the “Layla” singer has been vocal about lockdown measures, landing him in hot water with his own friends and family: “I was ostracized, and I could feel that everywhere,” Clapton said. “I could feel alienation because I held a different view.”

Many on twitter had their own views, and here are some of them.
