Can baby boomers, gen x, millennials and gen z work together?

Boomers were born between 1945 and 1964.

Gen X born between 1965 and 1980.

Millennials were born between 1981 and 1996.

…and Generation Z are those born between 1997 and 2012.

There are members off all these generations in the workplace. And while we are all human beings living on the same planet, each generation has a different set of values and world view mainly due to the times they grew up in, and the events that shaped those years.

The job search site Indeed recently conducted a survey of about 1,000 workers from across generations. Their goal was to find out how these different generations experience and find solutions to overwhelming work issues that leave them feeling exhausted.

This burn out has led to quiet quitting. Quiet quitting refers to employees focusing on just their assigned duties and being less invested in their work.

The survey revealed that all workers, of all generations feel burned out to some degree.

The survey also pointed out that we tend to view ourselves differently than people of other generations.

Can baby boomers, gen x, millennials and gen z work together?

From boomers right up to Gen Z, this is how employees describe coworkers from other generations.

  • GEN Z

Can Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z Work Together? The described themselves as hard workers. Millennials are the only generation to agree with that. Gen Z has been described as lazy by other generations, but not by boomers. They save that label for millennials.

  • MILLENNIALS

Can baby boomers, gen x, millennials and gen z work together? They describe themselves as hard workers.  All generations talk about millennials in this positive light…except for….boomers.  Other generations describe millennials as cooperative and responsible.

  • GEN X

Can baby boomers, gen x, millennials and gen z work together?Gen X has mostly stayed out of  the tension between boomers and millennials.   Gen X see themselves as responsible and boomers agree.  Boomers agreed.

  • BABY BOOMERS

Can Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z Work Together?Boomers think alot of themselves!  They feel they are dedicated and responsible.  All generations agree.

If anything is learned from this survey, it points out (in my view, and I’m a boomer) that boomers need to have an open mind about the different generations, and realize that their growing up and values reality is much different than theirs.  Personally speaking, I love working and learning from Gen Z’s and Millennials!  Heck, my kids are millennials and I love them!
