Justin Timberlake Teases Sixth Album: ‘Everything I Thought It Was’
Justin Timberlake is re-entering his solo music career. Besides a one-night-only performance in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee on Friday night (January 19), the singer-songwriter teased his new era.
He captioned his latest Instagram post: “EITIW.” In the carousel of photos he shared, the “Rock Your Body” singer teased images from what seems to be behind the scenes from a music video set. The final slide mimics his caption, written across a Lacie external hard drive in Sharpie.
One fan hilariously guessed the album name in the comments section: “‘Everytime I Twerk I Win’ is my final guess.” Another guessed: “Everybody Is Totally Into Werewolves.” While another had a shady comment, referring to a Britney Spears lyric: “Everytime I Try To Fly I Fall….. oh wait.” Another joked, “Weird post for the NSYNC Reunion but ok.”
According to legal documents obtained by gossip website TMZ, trademark applications were filed early last year for the phrases “Everything I Thought It Was” and “Everything I Thought It Was … A Sonic film.” The attorney, C. Brandon Browning, signed the trademark applications. Browning has previously filed the trademark for Timberlake’s 2018 album, Man of the Woods.
ETITW would mark Timberlake’s sixth album and the first in six years. His last project was reuniting with *NSYNC to release “Better Place” for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack back in September, marking the group’s first musical release since 2002. Prior to that, he reunited with Timbaland in April after 20 years. Timbaland previously stated that the sound of the new album will be like 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds. “It’s fun Justin,” he said. “But nothing too heavy, just giving you what you expect from us.”

Next Thursday (January 25), Timberlake is set to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as a guest alongside Molly Ringwald and musical guest Flo Milli. Since Timberlake and Fallon are longtime friends, fans speculate that the musician will use the late-night appearance to announce his new album.
