Taylor Swift’s Home State Recognizes 2023 as Her Era
Just as Taylor Swift celebrates another year around the sun this week, her home state of Pennsylvania gave her a huge gift: they’re naming the year 2023 her “era.” On top of having an incredibly fruitful year in concert ticket sales and concert film ticket sales, she’s earned awards and titles crowning her as the top in her industry. She’s the person of the year, the most intriguing person, and now, state House of Representatives resolution is recognizing 2023 as the Taylor Swift era in her home state of Pennsylvania. Just in time for her 34th birthday Wednesday (December 13), lawmakers approved of the resolution.

Per the Associated Press, Pennsylvania has benefited from her vast influence over the past year, sponsors say. The frenzy for tickets to her tour prompted quick legislative action in the state to address Ticketmaster’s shortcomings. Additionally, she raised local economies in every city on her tour stops, including Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Swift also donated proceeds to hunger relief organizations as she traveled through.
On a national level, the “Anti-Hero” singer has encouraged thousands of young people to register to vote, something she has always long been an advocate for. All of these feats accomplished by the Pennsylvania native prompted the resolution. The vote was a close call, but ultimately passed 103 to 100. Speaker Representative Joanna McClinton jokingly quoted Swift’s “Shake It Off” lyrics: “Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.”
Birthday Celebrations
Swift celebrated her birthday in New York City Wednesday night surrounded by her long-time celebrity friends like Blake Lively, Selena Gomez, Miles Teller, Anya Taylor-Joy, Cara Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, Robert Pattinson, Sabrina Carpenter, Zoë Kravitz, Jack Antonoff, Gigi Hadid, and Antoni Porowski. She hosted a party at Freeman’s, a tucked-away hip restaurant and her beau Travis Kelce was noticeably not in attendance. The Kansas City Chiefs star had mandatory practice with his team as they prepare for a game against the Patriots this upcoming Sunday.
