Pennsylvania Has One of America’s Most ‘Sinful Cities’
The holidays aren’t really a time known for “sinful” behavior. Instead, the holidays are a time for love, joy and spending time with friends, family and loved ones. But, I guess it depends on how you define “sinful.” If to you, sinful means eating too much and spending too much, then the holidays are definitely at time for those activities. Well, one Pennsylvania city has been named one of America’s most sinful cities.
The new report comes from Wallethub. They note that, according to their studies, “More than 23% of U.S. adults report binge drinking in the past month and the average household has over $10,000 in credit card debt.” In Wallethub’s report of 2023’s Most Sinful Cities in America, they looked at more than 180 U.S. cities. They also based in on seven sinful behaviors. Those were anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity and laziness.
Before we get to Pennsylvania, some key findings were that Irvine, California, has the lowest violent crime rate of all the cities in the studio at 0.75. The city with the highest violent crime rate is Memphis, Tennessee, at 24.21. Moreover, Aurora, Illinois, has the fewest thefts per 1,000 residents (2.40). Meanwhile, Tacoma, Washington is the city that had the most thefts per 1,000 residents (88.80).

They choc it up to, believe it or not, “vanity.” The study states, “More people in this city consulted the internet about various types of plastic surgery than others in the study, which shows a strong interest in maintaining or improving their appearance. Residents in Philly also have a reputation for being a little hot-headed at times, earning them the second-place spot when it comes to anger and hatred this year.” Find the full list of the most sinful cities in America via Wallethub here.
