Delaware Subway Sandwich Shops Make Major Change
The massive sandwich chain Subway is making a colossal change to their sandwich making process.
Delaware Subway sandwich artists will now have to take one major step before handing you your sweet chicken teriyaki.
Workers will now be working with fresh sliced meat!
The sandwich giant said it would do away with pre-sliced earlier in the year, and now the change is taking effect!
“On July 5, Subway announced the arrival of freshly sliced meats in its restaurants, nationwide. The chain heralds this as its latest, biggest and meatiest change to its offerings since it began its “Eat Fresh Refresh” campaign in 2021. It first told Restaurant Business Online about its switch to automatic slicers in August 2022” according to The Today Show.
The change is only one of many changes at Subway.
The sandwich chain also rebooted some of its bread recipes over the last few years.
I swear Subway pumps the bread smell out of their shop. You can smell it clear across the mall!
The sliced in store deli meats will roll out to 20,000 Subway stores.
Subway calls the new initiative one of their biggest yet
According to a press release “Subway spent over two years preparing for the debut of freshly sliced meats in its U.S. restaurants. It was one of the most complex changes the brand has ever made, from reorganizing its supply chain to installing a deli meat slicer in 20,000 Subway restaurants – including one every five minutes over the course of nine months.”
The investment in the new meat slicers cost $80 million!
You can get a FREE Subway sandwich to celebrate
Tuesday, July 11, between 10 a.m. and noon local time you can grab one of one million free 6-inch sandwiches to put their new slicers to the test!
It looks like the first 50 customers to participating locations will be able to snag the free lunch.
