SZA is setting the record straight on rumors that she dated Drake.
The rumors began after 21 Savage’s Savage Mode II was released on Friday (October 2). On the song “Mr. Right Now,” Drake appears and raps, “Turn your phone off, take your clothes off/I’ma sav’, but I f— her to a slow song/Yeah, said she wanna f— to some SZA, wait/’Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.”
After that, social media began researching the relationship and questioning their ages when it happened.
Now SZA has come forward to confirm that they did date. She also set the record straight on the timeline.
On Twitter, she wrote, “So It was actually 2009 lol.. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol. I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace.”
She then added, “I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening . Completely innocent . Lifetimes ago.”
