After weeks of teasing fans on social media, Sam Smith and Demi Lovato’s new single is out. The pair have teamed up for the powerful and catchy anthem, “I’m Ready.”
“It’s official. The 2020 QUEER OLYMPICS will be broadcasting from the moon,” Sam wrote on Instagram about the Olympic themed video.
In a recent interview, Sam spoke about teaming up with Demi and said, “I’m nervous about the song because the song for me is a song that’s reaching. You know what I say when a song’s reaching, when it’s like you’re reaching for the stars in the melody, you’re reaching for the stars in all of it.” He added, “It almost sounds a bit musical theater at times. It feels cheesy at times. And I’m trying to own that because that is a genuine feeling that comes out sometimes in the studio and it’s fun. It’s really fun to go to that place.” The clip features a number of drag performers, including cast members from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
