CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: 30 Reported Cases in Delaware
Figures from the Delaware Division of Public health indicate that as of yesterday, the number of COVID-19 cases rose to 30. 23 cases are reported in New Castle County, 3 in Kent and 4 in Sussex. Of these cases, 17 are male and 13 female. They range in age from 14-80. Three individuals are currently hospitalized and one of the Kent County patients was in critical condition. DPH will not disclose additional information about the individuals and they cannot confirm specific information even if other entities make their own announcements.
If you think you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have symptoms of illness, make sure to distance yourself from vulnerable populations. This includes people 60 years of age and older; people with serious chronic health conditions such as diabetes, lung disease, heart disease; or those who are immunocompromised. If you ARE sick, stay home and contact your primary care provider. Symptoms of COVID-19 include shortness of breath. If you have been tested for the virus, The DPH Call Center DOES NOT have results. Your medical provider will call you back. The somewhat good news is, many individuals infected with COVID-19 recover by resting, drinking plenty of liquids and taking pain, and fever-reducing medications. However, illness can be severe and require hospitalization in some cases.
