Queen Latifah will be returning to television. CBS has greenlit a pilot for The Equalizer, a reimagining of the classic series starring Latifah and executive produced by the actress and rapper, as Deadline reports.

The project was created by Take-Two creators Andrew Marlowe & Terri Miller, Davis Entertainment, Flavor Unit, Martin Chase Productions, Universal Television, and CBS TV Studios.

The new series was written by Marlowe and Miller, who will serve as showrunners. The Equalizer stars Latifah who assists others who have nowhere to turn. This approach is a new take on the character portrayed by Edward Woodward on the original series and by Denzel Washington in the film franchise.

This will mark The Equalizer‘s return to the television network. The original TV series aired on CBS for four seasons from 1985-89.
