Cardi B Chats With Bernie Sanders About The Minimum Wage
Bronx rapper Cardi B has been very vocal regarding presidential candidates and voting, and recently the “Money” rapper sat down with presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
On Tuesday, Cardi shared a video from their conversation on her Instagram account. “What are your questions!” the rapper wrote in her caption.
“So I know this is long overdue but here it is! A couple of weeks ago I asked my followers if you all had the chance to ask a Democratic candidate a question, what would that question be? The topic that was mentioned the most by all of you was about raising MINIMUM WAGE.”
In the video, Cardi asks Sanders about the minimum wage. Sanders said that the Grammy Award-winning rapper asked an “excellent and important question.”
“‘Cause right now we have tens of millions of people who are earning what I consider to be starvation wages,” Sanders responded.
“Can you imagine somebody today earning nine dollars an hour?” he asked Cardi. “Legislation that I introduced, which was passed in the House [of Representatives] recently, would raise that mini wage to $15 an hour. And what we also have to do is make it easier for workers to join unions. So they can sit down and engage in collective bargaining and earn a decent living,” Sanders concluded.
