Top Tourist Attractions In Delaware And Surrounding States!

We have reached the time of year when it’s time to start thinking about summer vacation!

Some of the best places are so close to home here in the Delaware Valley.

My family and I have been so lucky to travel to places far from home. We’ve visited locations in California, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon out west. And the New England here in the east.

This time of year many of our friends are visiting sunny and warm south Florida. Seeing those pictures get me yearning for warmer sunnier days.

That’s when our attention turns to planning a vacation for the Summer of ’23!

When considering where to go this year, I came across something on the web that mentioned the top tourist attractions in the United States. In looking at this article I started hearing Dorothy of the Wizard Of Oz saying “there’s no place like home”!

The Top Tourist Attractions In Delaware And Surrounding States are listed here for you. With gas prices going and and down and with inflation being what it is, maybe this year we consider once of these locations that are not more than 2 hours from Wilmington Delaware!

  • Cape May: New Jersey

Cape May is a 2 hour drive from Wilmington or and 85 minute ferry ride from Lewes, De!
The ferry ride is an adventure within itself! Cape May is a totally different experience than any other Jersey Shore town. It’s the nations oldest seaside resort offering Victorian charm and wide clean deep sandy beach’s. The variety of accommodations range from old bed and breakfasts to modern Airbnb’s! My wife and I love the beach there, the restaurant scene, the wineries and endlessly riding our bikes on the beautiful flat terrain.

  • National Aquarium: Baltimore, Maryland

This was an early destination date with me and my wife back in the 80s, and it’s still awesome. Just a short drive from Wilmington, The National Aquarium inside the Inner Harbor in Baltimore is home to 20,000 aquatic animals. If you love dolphins and feeling like you are on an undersea adventure, this is the place to go! Plus check out all of the Inner Harbor restaurants after or before your visit to the National Aquarium!

  • Liberty Bell: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Top Tourist Attractions In Delaware And Surrounding States

When people who live outside of the Delaware Valley think of Philadelphia, the first things that come to mind are soft pretzels, hoagies, cheesesteaks and The Liberty Bell! It’s been a top tourist attraction in Philly forever, and I just saw it for the first time a few years ago. And I grew up in the region!

  • DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum: Fenwick Island, Delaware

I’ve not heard of this museum until just now when putting this article together. The DiscoverSea Shipwrick Museum is in Fenwick Island right here in Delaware. I need to plan a trip and so should you! DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum was founded with the goal of recovering and preserving our maritime heritage. The shipwreck museum opened in July of 1995 and is the product of years of research and hard work. Only open weekends until July.
