I can’t wait to start hearing all the Christmas Classics and Holiday Hits on WJBR!   I am so lucky to be working for a station that is known by generations to be “Delaware’s Christmas Station”!  It as much fun planning out the music and programming as it is playing the music and listening to it!  We hope you love it this year too!  We have YOU in mind when coming up with the playlist and we are so happy so many listeners contributed to our Christmas Music Listener Survey!

So now to help get you and me in the mood, I give you my Top 5 Christmas Movies of all time!

For the 5 weeks leading up to Christmas, I watch one of these movies each week….

  • At #5 it’s “A Christmas Story”

As a life long radio guy, I admire radio star Jean Shepherd’s storytelling….and the over the top acting!  So much fun….especially when the dogs take the turkey!

  • #4 is “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”!

Clark Griswold has inspired me and a generation of holiday home decorators!

  • My #3 is the classic 1947 “Miracle on 34th Street”

Starring Maureen O’Hara as a single working Mom and Natalie Wood as her young skeptical daughter.  Can’t find too many movies with a much happier ending!

  • #2 is “Elf”!

Who does not love the upbeat, happy optimism or Buddy The Elf…we all could learn a lesson from him!   Plus, legends Bob Newhart and Ed Asner are cast perfectly and are true treasures.

  • And now for my big #1….it’s probably #1 on many lists,”It’s A Wonderful Life"

A true story of someone who gave up his own dreams to help others.  I must admit after George Bailey realizes that it’s truly a wonderful life and runs back hope to be greeted by all those he helped, help him out in his time of need—it brings a tear to my eye each time.   I love this movie so much that I had it on black and white VHS in the 80s.  Then in the 90s I bought a colorized version on VHS.   But now I have a brilliant remastered black and white version saved that I watch each year.  My wife knows I love it so much, she bought me a coffee mug that says “IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE”!
