Demi Lovato Announces Her New Album ‘Dancing With The Devil’
Demi Lovato announced on her socials yesterday that her forthcoming album Dancing With The Devil: The Art of Starting Over is set to drop a few weeks from now, on April 2nd.
Lovato’s last album 2017’s Tell Me You Love Me was her sixth studio album, described as having a more “soulful” side than her previous work. She’s released a few singles since then, including âWhat Other People Sayâ with Sam Fischer, âMonstersâ with Blackbear and All Time Low, âOK Not to Be OKâ with Marshmello and âCommander In Chief.â
Lovato’s highly anticipated four-part YouTube docu-series premiers on March 23rd, which is also titled Dancing With The Devil. As we previously reported, the story explores Demi’s struggles with addiction and the trauma she faced in the aftermath of her nearly fatal 2018 overdose.
In the trailer alone, she revealed she had three strokes and a heart attack, with doctors believing she only had 5-10 minutes to live at the time of her overdose.
Lovato explained that the original title was just The Art of Starting Over, but decided to give it a double title to reflect the interconnection with her upcoming documentary, Variety reports.
âIf you listen to it track by track, if you follow the track listing, itâs kind of actually like the non-official soundtrack to the documentary. Because it really does follow my life over the past couple of years. When we went through the track listing and kind of mapped out how it kind of coincided with my lifeâs story, it made sense to add the more emotional stuff in the beginning and then transition into The Art of Starting Over,â Lovato said.

Per Variety, Lovato described the album as a mashup of genres, including country, R&B and â90s pop. Dancing With The Devil: The Art of Starting Over will contain 19 tracks, with three bonus songs, and teased three collaborations on the record (one of which might be Ariana Grande).
Dancing With The Devil: The Art of Starting Over will feature the song âAnyone,â which Lovato performed at the 2020 Grammy Awards.
