Sarah Thomas Will Be First Ever Woman to Referee Super Bowl
The NFL has announced the official lineup of referees for the upcoming Super Bowl and one of them will make history. Sarah Thomas will become the first ever female official in the Super Bowl on February 7, 2021. The Super Bowl has been around for 55 years.
Thomas will be the Down Judge of the Super Bowl Sunday game, the same position she has held for the past four seasons according to USAtoday.
NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Troy Vincent Sr. stated, “Her elite performance and commitment to excellence has earned her the right to officiate the Super Bowl. Congratulations to Sarah on this well-deserved honor.”
