Local Make-A-Wish Chapter Hosts Virtual Talent Show To Raise Funds For Wishes
The coronavirus pandemic has a huge damper on 2020 plans, but it has brought out resilience and creativity in people. One of the most resilient groups of people that I have had the honor of getting to know are ‘wish kids.’ If you’re not familiar, The Make-A-Wish foundation grants wishes for kids with critical illnesses. These kids and their families go through so much and the kids are always filled with wonder and hope.
Even though all wishes involving travel have been postponed, wish granting hasn’t stopped. COVID-19 also has not stopped these kids from making the best of the situation and getting creative! This summer our local chapter, Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley is hosting their first-ever virtual talent show. They’re calling it Stars At Home! 45 former local wish kids are participating to raise funds for wishes. They take videos of their talents and the public can vote to determine a winner. These kids are so talented! There’s going to be singing, dancing, gymnastics, magic and so much more.
You can watch the talent show on the chapter’s social media sites @MakeAWishPHL. They will be sharing a new wish kid talent video on the channels everyday through the end of August. Community members can vote for their favorite at with a $5 dollar donation. The top three finishers will win some cool prizes and it’s a great way for you to check out and support these incredibly talented kids. All funds raised through Stars At Home will help grant wishes for critically ill kids in our community.
