GUITAR PLAYLIST: Roy Orbison, Steve Clark, Dean DeLeo
On the surface, one wouldn’t think Roy Orbison, Def Leppard’s Steve Clark and Stone Temple Pilots’ Dean DeLeo would have much in common, but each is not only a stellar guitarist, they also share an April 23 birthday!
Orbison influenced countless singer/songwriters, from Bruce Springsteen to Elvis Costello and plenty in between. Clark’s playing and songwriting were integral to Def Leppard’s sound and helped make them one of the biggest bands of the 80’s. DeLeo’s monster riffs set STP apart from every other band that emerged in the 90’s.
