Family Owned Hot Chicken Restaurant Coming To Newark
It’s one of those foods we are seeing more and more of on social media, whether it be part of a mukbang post or a simple taste test from your favorite influencers. We’re talking hot chicken.
I recently tried it for the first time, and for the sake of keeping this positive, I won’t mention the name of the location. Let’s just say, it wasn’t my favorite and the service may have had something to do with it. But enough about that, let’s talk about a new hot chicken restaurant coming to Newark that I cannot wait to try!
Bab’s Hot Chicken Restaurant
Who doesn’t love a family owned business with a great background story? That’s just what you’re going to get with Bab’s Hot Chicken Restaurant coming to Newark.
This will be the second location for Bab’s, with the first being just over the border in Audobon, Pennsylvania. They opened their doors earlier this year in February.
The owners are a set of three brothers, who are also behind the concepts for both M2o Burgers & Salads and Töska Restaurant & Brewery, with locations in Wilmington and various parts of Pennsylvania.
“We knew we wanted a second location for Bab’s,” said the brothers. “Delaware made the most sense to us as we have a few locations here for our other businesses’ and we love being apart of the community around University of Delaware and Wilmington.”
The Name Behind Bab’s Hot Chicken
Leo, Pep, and Jim Osmanollaj are the three grandsons of Baba, a family man with a love for cooking, especially his famous hot chicken, on his farm in Kosovo. In 2000 the three brothers crossed the pond and came to the United States looking for the American Dream.
The brothers say, the flavors of Baba’s hot chicken were not just a taste of home but a connection to their heritage. It was these memories that fueled their desire to share Baba’s iconic recipe with a wider audience.
Bab’s Hot Chicken restaurant will open on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 11am with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The first 100 guests will score a complimentary chicken sandwich, while listening to DJ Spinatra.
The restaurant is located at 174 E. Main Street, Newark DE. The hours of operation will be Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m.- midnight. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.- 2 a.m.
