Move to Delaware If You Want a Remote Job
Remote jobs are all the rage. If you want a remote job, experts say you might want to move to Delaware. That’s because Delaware is one of the best states in the country for remote positions. Here’s what makes it so good.
Move to Delaware If You Want a Remote Job – Here’s Why
If you’re in the market for a remote job, CNBC.com states that, “The good news for remote jobseekers is that some industries are still hiring for roles that can be done from home, and many come with six-figure salaries.” Even if you don’t get that six-figure salary, if you’re one of those workers hoping to snag a remote job, then Delaware is a great place to set up shop and find that work-from-home gig.
The experts at ergonomic furniture maker Desky, via FirstforWomen.com, recently conducted research and looked at internet speeds, electricity costs and remote job openings in all 50 states in the U.S. In general, in the top states for remote workers, Desky says these areas offer more opportunities to get a remote job, and you’re also more likely to have a reliable, fast Internet connection and decent utility costs in comparison to other states. No. 1 on the list of the best states for remote workers was Virginia, followed by Washington and Arizona.
By the way, if you want a remote job, Indeed.com suggests that you get to know people online. “Even if you don’t know someone hiring for a real work-at-home job, you may have a friend or family member who does,” they write. “Post on your social media sites that you’re looking for remote work and reach out to people you know personally. Look for companies hoping to decrease business costs by hiring remote employees.”
Delaware was named the No. 4 best state for remote workers. “Delaware may be the smallest state, but it’s home to many major industries and employers — including manufacturing, financial services, healthcare and agriculture,” FirstforWomen.com states. “It’s also home to one of the biggest Air Force bases in the country, Dover Air Force Base, and a high concentration of government workers.” They add that the financial services industry comprises a hefty 9% of all jobs in Delaware, and since a good portion of financial services industry jobs can be done remote, that also helps. So, if you want to work from home and not have to deal with a commute, Delaware is a great spot to live.
