Taylor Swift Boldly Defends Lady Gaga Amid Pregnancy Rumors

Lady Gaga's change in her physical appearance has caused quite a stir on social media. The "Judas" singer, 38, took to her social media platforms to address pregnancy rumors that were sparked over the weekend due to photos that showed a slight bump in her belly while attending her younger sister's wedding.

In a short clip with bleached eyebrows, Gaga simply stated on TikTok: "Not pregnant…" and added to tell her fans to register to vote.

Meanwhile, pop icon Taylor Swift isn’t having it with the speculation or discord surrounding Lady Gaga's -- or any woman's body. The "Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" singer, 34, commented on Gaga's TikTok shutting down the pregnancy rumors. "Can we all agree that it's invasive & irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body. Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman [lips kissing emoji]," Swift wrote on Wednesday (June 5).

Fans went nuts that Swift even commented, writing things like, "THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IVE SEEN TAYLOR COMMENT ON A VID." Another Swiftie wrote, "GAGA BEING A SWIFTIE WELL WE NEED A COLLAB IMMEDIATELY." Added a third, "I’m such an happy little monster and swiftie and I’m dying with this interaction."

Gaga also made a cheeky reference to Swift's recently-released Tourtured Poets Department track "Down Bad" in the clip. Written over the video, Gaga adds to her "not pregnant" statement: "just down bad cryin' at the gym."

She also lip-syncs to audio that says, "I don't have to find an aesthetic; I am the aesthetic. I mean, I'm sure there's somebody out here right now who is going into Pinterest trying to type up all these adjectives to describe me."

Reacting to Gaga's "Down Bad" reference, one person demanded, "Ok but the Taylor reference!! Girls give us a duet!! This is now a need." Another fan commented, "EXCUSE ME THE TS REFERENCE???? [sobbing amoji] OH, OUR POP MOTHERS [heart emoji]."A third fan pleaded, "I love you and the Taylor reference omg please collab."

Meanwhile, Gaga has been dating entrepreneur Michael Polansky for four years. The pair have sparked engagement rumors recently, when Gaga was spotted wearing a massive ring on her wedding ring finger.

Swift has also been the center of rumors surrounding her future with her partner, Travis Kelce. Apparently, Kelce's barber teased that the couple would "hopefully" be getting married soon.

The origins of the date and the term “420” started with a group of hippie teens from San Rafael High School in California, who called themselves “the Waldos.” A friend’s brother was afraid of getting arrested for a patch of cannabis he was growing in the woods at Point Reyes, so he drew a map and gave the Waldos permission to harvest the crop.

During the fall of 1971, at 4:20 p.m., just after classes and football practice, the group would meet up at the school’s statue of chemist Louis Pasteur, smoke a joint, and head out to search for the weed patch. They never found it, but their private lexicon — “420 Louie” and later just “420″ — would take on a life of its own.

The Waldos saved postmarked letters and other artifacts from the 1970s referencing “420,” which they later kept in a bank vault, and when the Oxford English Dictionary added the term in 2017, it cited some of those documents as the entry’s earliest recorded uses.

A brother of one of the Waldos was a close friend of Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh. The Waldos began hanging out in the band’s circle, and the slang spread. By the '90s, 4/20 became a phenomenon. One of the Waldos, Steve Capper, reflected, “Most things die within a couple of years, but this just goes on and on. It’s not like someday somebody’s going to say, ‘OK, Cannabis New Year’s is on June 23rd now.'”

With the legalization of marijuana passing in more states, many dispensaries offer discounts to celebrate 4/20. 24 states, two territories, and the District of Columbia have legalized small amounts of cannabis for adult recreational use.

Most recently, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Rhode Island passed legislation allowing individuals 21 or older to possess certain amounts of cannabis. With the exception of Delaware, these new laws permit individuals to home-grow marijuana—however, the number of plants one can legally cultivate varies by state. In all six of these jurisdictions, medical use cannabis was legalized prior to adult recreational use.
