Will Smith Responds To Jada Pinkett Smith’s Comments On Their Marriage
In promotion of her upcoming memoir, Worthy, Jada Pinkett Smith has been revealing some of the topics she touches on which include her marriage to Will Smith. Last week, Jada revealed that she and Will have been separated since 2016, which shocked the internet. Will Smith has stayed mum on the reveal until now.
“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” Will wrote in an email to The New York Times.
“I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,” the Red Table Talk host In an exclusive clip from her upcoming @NBCNews primetime special with @HodaKotb, Jada Pinkett Smith reveals her current relationship status with Will Smith, ahead of the release of Pinkett Smith’s memoir “Worthy.” pic.twitter.com/hMoAwi3ETz
The couple got married in 1997 and they share two children together: son Jaden Smith and daughter Willow Smith. Will also has a son, Trey Smith, with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino. They got divorced in 1995 after three years of marriage.
Jada Says ‘Separation’ Topic Was Supposed To Revealed Earlier
Jada told the Times of London that on their 2020 episode of The Red Table Talk they were supposed to talk about their separation.
“We were supposed to come to the table and go, ‘We are separated, and we’re figuring it out,'” Jadasaid. “But Will wasn’t ready for that, and so my codependency kicks in, and I think, ‘I want you to come out of this as unscathed as possible.’ So if that means me taking on the narrative of [the] adulterous wife, I’ll do it.'”
Two years after their Red Table Talk interview, Will had slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars after he made a joke about her hair. The Academy banned Will from all of their events for ten years following the Oscars slap.
