8 New Pickleball Courts In Wilmington Are Opening Next Month
If you’re a pickleball player, you’ll want to know about this new project. Including 8 New Pickleball Courts In Wilmington.
On Friday, September 1st at 4pm the Siegel JCC will be hosting a ribbon cutting and unveiling of two important outdoor capital projects.
Pickleball Courts In Wilmington
The first project is the renovation of its outdoor courts. The Siegel JCC’s outdoor courts have been resurfaced, resulting in 8 permanent Pickleball courts, 1 tennis court, and 1 basketball court. Lighting is also being installed to allow use of the courts for extended hours. The Siegel JCC has seen growing interest in Pickleball in the community, by people of all ages. Initially, the JCC had just 2 indoor courts and 2 outdoor courts. In addition to court renovations, the JCC purchased paddles and balls and began offering clinics and pick-up play opportunities, with tremendous growth in participation. The game has also been taught to summer campers and camp staff. A week after the unveiling, the Siegel JCC will be hosting its 3rd Annual Pickle Palooza tournament on the new courts.
Shalom Central Pavilion
The second project is the installation of a new pavilion, named Shalom Central. The pavilion will provide space that will allow everyone using it to participate in activities in an outdoor environment, regardless of weather. This will reduce the disruption of having to relocate activities indoors on bad weather days, which can impact groups already using the indoor facilities. The pavilion project is a priority because of the value the JCC believes it will add to its programs, ultimately engaging more residents in our region with better programs and fewer disruptions. The pavilion will also be available for use by other campus agencies as well as the greater community.
These capital projects were made possible through the generous support of our government, several community funders, and many individual donors. The mission of these projects, like everything the JCC does, is to build, support, and strengthen the community.
The Grand Opening celebration will begin with a ribbon cutting at 4pm at the outdoor courts, followed by a second ribbon cutting at the pavilion, and conclude with a family-style dinner under the pavilion.
