New Castle County Issues Warning On Pop-Up Parties
After a tragic incident, The New Castle County Division of Police has responded to an increase in pop-up parties or events advertised on social media.
According to 6ABC “A female teenager was shot in New Castle County, Delaware park early Thursday morning. Officials say a large group was gathered in Glasgow Park when the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. They say it was a so-called “pop-up party” and it was promoted via social media. The 16-year-old victim is in stable condition.”
The New Castle County Division of Police cites multiple reasons of why these parties are dangerous. They say that these gatherings pose a threat to parklands and can get out of hand very easily due to the amount of people who show up.
These pop-up parties are promoted via social media and can garner an influx of people quickly.
Venues can lack proper security, exits, and may lack crowd control measures.
Pop-up parties can also cause a disturbance to pre-planned and permitted events at parks.
The New Castle County Division of Police has issues rules on conducting and planning a party in the parks:
