Thick Haze In Delaware Valley Brings Air Quality Alert
If you have been outside today (5/31) in the Delaware Valley you may have noticed it is quite hazy.
So hazy in fact that an air quality alert has been put into effect.
So why is it so hazy? Turns out the smoke is making its way south from a wildfire burning in Nova Scotia, Canada.
So what does the “Code Orange” air quality alert mean? To see the air quality and alerts in your zip code you can visit airnow.gov. The site suggests for “Code Orange” alerts, “People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens: Reduce your exposure by choosing less strenuous activities or shortening the amount of time you are active outdoors.”
The smoke is expected to clear out by Friday, June 2nd.
A Code Orange Air Quality Alert has been issued across southeastern PA and all of NJ. Sensitive groups should minimize strenuous outdoor activities. For more air quality information, visit https://t.co/feYMPwR7XC and follow @AIRNow @NewJerseyDEP @PennsylvaniaDEP pic.twitter.com/44UKgvcu3O
