The Famous Bed Bath & Beyond Towels Are A Lie
The Famous Bed Bath & Beyond Towels Are A Lie
With the announcement of Bed Bath & Beyond closing their remaining stores I was reminded of something I was told years ago.
Something that totally ruined the magic!
The famous stacked towels in Bed Bath & Beyond…are an illusion!
Walking into Bed Bath & Beyond as a kid was overwhelming and the one thing that stuck with me was the towels!
Stacks upon stacks of towels halfway up the wall almost touching the ceiling!
I would always wonder how many towels the store actually had?
The answer is shocking! A lot less than you would think.
Those famous stacks of towels are just ONE single towel.
The towel stacks were one single towel laid over curved foam and strategically tucked in to resemble tons of towels on top of each other!
A picture and examples of how the towels are displayed can be found here.
The Consumerist wanted to find out if this was true in all Bed Bath & Beyonds.
“We wanted to find out the truth, so we employed the advanced investigative technique of e-mailing the chain’s PR people. Guess what? It’s true. Their lovely Public Relations manager wrote to us: Busted! Yes, our little “secret” has been discovered (again). We do use a foam mold to keep our towel displays looking neat and clean for our customers.”
Bed Bath & Beyond announced they will begin to process of closing all their stores in the future. The announcement came this week.
This means Bed Bath & Beyond will cease operations on all its stores.
Their websites will remain accessible as the close down their brick and mortar locations.
There is a chance that their remaining stores could stay open if the company finds a favorable buyer.
Earlier this the company announced it would reduce its footprint to 360 physical stores.
