New Castle Spot Named Delaware’s Best Milkshake
I’ll be honest with you.
I prefer a milkshake over any other ice cream product any day of the week.
Milkshakes are the best of everything. Easy to eat, portable, and the flavor combinations are unlimited.
Love Food recently named a New Castle staple as the best Milkshake in the state and one of the best across the country.
Love Food said “Another place that gets the basics just right is Dairy Palace in New Castle. This family-operated spot has got time on its side, since it started doling out ice cream and shakes back in 1956. Decades later and it’s still just as loved; regulars rave about the classic Vanilla-Chocolate combo milkshake. Delicious!”
Dairy Palace was originally a Dairy Queen and was built in 1954. The famous ice cream spot changed names in 1970 after Dairy Queen wanted to remodel and rebrand the ice cream stand.
Dairy Palace was also named a historical site back in 2019.
According to Delaware.gov “Located on Route 141 across from the New Castle Airport in New Castle, Del., the Dairy Palace was originally built in 1954 as a Dairy Queen franchise licensed to Ernest Overby. In 1956, it was acquired by Vince and Joyce Parker and has remained a family enterprise ever since. After learning that Dairy Queen corporate officials wanted to modernize their existing buildings, the Parkers chose to purchase their franchised property in 1970 with an eye toward preserving its original appearance.”
Check out Dairy Palace at 2 Jay Dr, New Castle, DE 19720.
The Chocolate Milkshake from Bassetts Ice Cream was named Pennsylvania’s best. You can find Bassetts inside the Reading Terminal Market.
New Jersey’s best milkshake resides at multiple locations of Coney Waffle. The Side Show Shakes are massive and contain ingredients not found anywhere else.
