Sleep Under The Stars In New Castle County

The county’s premier family event is back as you can sleep under the stars in New Castle County.

The annual family camp out and activity event is back on October 15th 2022 in Carousel Park.

According to the event website “This camping event is for the experienced camper and novice alike. Campers enjoy bonfires, a movie under the stars, DJ, Monster Mash dance party, spooky tent decorating contest, tent-to-tent trick-or-treating, fall crafts, food trucks, and more. ”

Organizers also reminding people to not forget their ingredients to make s’mores!

Space is limited and children MUST be accompanied by an adult. Cost for the event is $20 a car.

There is a rain date of October 22nd if needed and only tents are allowed.

Food trucks will include:

  • Dino’s Ice Cream and Water Ice
  • Kona Ice Elkton Newark
  • Maddy’s Kitchen
  • Madi LLC
  • Mitch’s Mo Better
  • Sargent Balan’s BBQ
  • Soul Food Gigi’s & Big R

The movie under the stars will be a Halloween favorite in Hocus Pocus!

Ax throwing, make-your-own scarecrow, and fishing will all be apart of Sleep Under The Stars!

According to the event website the rules for the event are:

“No personal campfires or charcoal grills: We will tend the campfires and keep them going. You are welcome to bring a propane camp stove and your cooler.

No alcohol or drugs: This is a family event. The use of alcohol and/or illicit drugs is prohibited in all New Castle County parks. Persons violating this rule will be referred to our Department of Public Safety.

No weapons: The possession of weapons and firearms is prohibited while on New Castle County park property. Persons violating this rule will be referred to our Department of Public Safety.

No pets: We know that pets are a part of the family, but no pets of any kind are permitted at this event. This is for the safety of your pet as well as that of your camping neighbors.

Be kind: The Golden Rule. Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. We are anticipating a large number of people at this event, so we thank you in advance for your patience”

Delaware Has A Top Ranked Pumpkin Beer

It’s Pumpkin everything season and Delaware has a top ranked pumpkin beer!

You can’t leave the house without running into a new pumpkin product.

But it seems amongst all the pumpkin overload the pumpkin beer has been a staple for years!

Delish.com recently released their Top 20 Pumpkin Beers for Fall 2022.

So how did they decide on who ranked where? Taste and preference.

Delish said their methodology included “Delish staff favorites, regional picks, some faves from restaurant folks, and the best-reviewed pumpkin brews on the internet.”

Dogfish Head place very high this year and it’s no surprise.

Dogfish Head Punkin’ Ale was ranked just outside the Top 10!

Coming in at #15 the annual ale was just narrowed out by Flying Dog The Fear Pumpkin Ale at #14.

Delish describes the beer as “This pumpkin beer is warmed with nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove to create a full-bodied brown ale with plenty of brown sugar flavor. Dogfish Head likes to change up the packaging of Punkin Ale. Last year, the design featured a glow-in-the-dark element, while this year, it’s got sunflowers and a boisterous pumpkin.”

The top spot on the Top 20 Pumpkin Beers for Fall 2022 was Two Roads Roadsmary’s Baby.

Delish said this about the top beer: “Go traditional with this pumpkin ale from Two Roads. It’s aged in rum barrels and has delicious notes of pumpkin, spices, vanilla, oak, and rum.”

It’s Pumpkin everything season and Delaware has a top ranked pumpkin beer!

    This beer has notes of rum, spices, vanilla, and oak.

  • 2. Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin Ale

    This beer is known for its very festive notes of nutmeg.

  • 3. Elysian Punkuccino

    The first coffee and pumpkin beer on the list! It has notes of nutmeg and of course fresh brewed coffee!

  • 4. Sam Adams Sweater Weather Variety Pack

    The only thing better than one beer is four beers! Their Jack-O pumpkin beer got them on this list.

  • 5. Allagash Ghoulship

    Delish describes this beer by saying “Local pumpkin, molasses, and raw pumpkin seeds go into this seasonal brew before it’s aged in oak barrels for up to three years. The result is a dry, golden-hued beer with a slightly sour finish.”
